Interview conducted by Alan Cherry as part of the LDS Afro-American Oral History Project by the Charles Redd Center for Western Studies at Brigham Young University on 7 March 1988. Soil discusses her early family life and religious experiences in Mount Pleasant, Mississippi. She describes her marriage and her relationship with her children as well as her conversion to the Mormon Church and its impact on her and her family's life. She also talks about the experiences of black Mormons in general.
